POUERS, RUSH, WILLIAMS posted by Tina Gauthier on Monday, December 27, 1999

I am looking for information on the Christian RUSH family. On the 1860 Darke County Harrison Township Census, Christian is 57 born in Piqua, (no longer a location, but in now Clark County), Ohio [on April 24, 1815 according to the family Bible]. His wife is Nancy WILLIAMS POUERS, 43, born in Ohio [on August 5, 1817 according to the family Bible. Children listed are: Sarah POUERS, 12 born in Ohio; Nancy POUERS, 7 born in Ohio; Martin RUSH, 4/12 born in Ohio; Isreal RUSH, 14 born in Ohio; Rubin RUSH, 10 born in Ohio; and Jonathan Asbury RUSH, born in Ohio on the census [according to family Bible born June 3, 1858 in Hillsboro, Indiana. I am trying to find out Christian's parents' names and birth locations. Any information that you can give me would help? I've been told that no one can get "stuck" in Ohio with their family history, yet somehow, I am. The family Bible contains no other leads. I can not confirm the Census record, because the other marriage of Nancy ! ! WILLIAMS was not acknowledged in the Bible. Is there a 1840 Census? The 1870 Census isn't available; and Christian died November 18, 1866. No information is given in the Bible as to where or what happened to the family. The 1880 Darke County Harrison Township Census has Jonathan [Asbury] RUSH, 21 born in Indiana/NC/IN married to Mary, 16 born in IN/O/IN with John H., 8/12 born in O/In/In. Jonathan is my 2nd Great Grandfather. I have the lineage to myself, but lack information backwards from Christian. Can you help? Thank you in advance.
