BAILEY, BROWN, CRISLER, HARRAMAN, JOH, LEEDY, SHIPLEY posted by Sharon Butsch Freeland on Wednesday, April 21, 1999

I am researching my HARRAMAN ancestors. Name is sometimes misspelled as Harriman, but our line spells it with an "A" in the middle. Family lived in the vicinity of Castine and Union City. Earliest forebear was William Simeon HARRAMAN (1815-?). Wm S's son was William Barton HARRAMAN (1841-1919). Wm B's son was Jesse Charles HARRAMAN (1877-1950). Family members married into BAILEY, BROWN, CRISLER, JOH, LEEDY, and SHIPLEY families. Would like to have a surname site created, so that someone might see my request for help.

GAUBEY, GAUBY, GAUVEY posted by Patricia Gauvey on Thursday, April 22, 1999

My g-uncle, Martin GAUVEY/GAUBEY/GAUBY, lived in Darke County and, I am told, managed the County Fair Grounds in the late 1800's. His brother and my g-grandfather, Geo GAUVEY, also lived in Darke Co. briefly. Geo and Martin were the sons of Martin GAUVEY (d. 1854) who lived near Dayton and managed a tavern. A second Martin GAUVEY (spouse: Nancy) lived in Darke Co. and was born around 1805 but possibly earlier. These two Martin GAUVEY/GAUBY/GAUBEY, Sr. are confusing my research badly. Any help sorting them out would be appreciated.
