Searching the PHILLIPS and CASADY/CASSIDY. Looking for information on the family of my gggrandmother, Eleanor "Nellie" PHILLIPS. Born in Virginia ca 1788. Father was John PHILLIPS, mother was Catherine CASADY/CASSIDY. Married John McGRIFF 10 June 1806 in Montgomery Co. They had the famous McGRIFF twins in Preble Co. in 1804 and 7 more children, including my ggrandfather Parker McGRIFF in Darke Co., Ohio. They moved from Darke Co. to Jay Co., Ind. and Eleanor died there in 1863.
I've just found references to the CRAGO family (Robert, Elizabeth, and Isaac) in Darke Co., OH. If anyone has access to the 1830 and 1840 censuses in Somers Twp., Miami Co. (Darke Co. today) or the Gratis Twp. 1850 census in Miami Co. I'd love to know what they say. I also found these marriages with book/pg references: Julian CRAGO m. Joseph DILLMAN in 1842 (001/1015), Martha CRAGO (Craig) m. William THOMPSON in 1815 (A), and Nancy Crago m. Jonathan A. BROWN in 1822 (001/113). In reserching my great grandparents, Frederick DITTMAN and Catherine M. HENGELSBERG in Allegheny Co., Pa. I ran across a Catherine HENGELSBERG being married to a KOVERMAN. Catherine was born in Hanover, Germany in 1822, died in Cincinatti in 1909. My problem is finding my Catherine M. and hope to find some connection by researching the KOVERMAN family.
