Seeking information on the APPLEGATE Family of Darke County, Ohio. Stephen A. APPLEGATE - born in 1862; died after 1920; in 1920 they were living in Ansonia, Ohio. Elmore APPLEGATE - born in 1866; died after 1920; in 1920 they were living in Jackson Township. Stephen and Elmore were the sons of Paul and Elizabeth APPLEGATE. Paul and Elizabeth are buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Darke County, Ohio. Any information on this family would be appreciated.

I am looking for information of Samuel WISE. Do not have any info except for one of his children's names. He had a son named Roy WISE that lived in New Paris, Ohio, and was married to Bertha. Bertha died about 1978, at the age of around 80. Roy was already deceased at the time. Any info would be appreciated as I am just starting to search for the WISE family!

Seeking information on WEAVER Family of Darke County, Ohio. Peter WEAVER came to Darke County around 1819. He first lived in Neave Township and then in Adams Township. He died in 1848 at the age of 82. Peter had a son, Henry, who also lived in Adams Township. Henry helped build the first schoolhouse in Adams Township near Gettysburg, Ohio. Henry died in 1865 at the age of 72. Henry WEAVER and his wife, Susan, had the following children: John, Andrew, Elijah, Nancy, Elizabeth, Eli, Henry Jr., and Elihue.

Elihue, son of Henry, was born in 1833; married Sarah WEAVER who was the daughter of Adam WEAVER; died in 1905. Elihue and Sarah had two children: James Edward and Harvey Ellsworth. Harvey was born in 1874 and died in 1971.

Researching the families of Lewis HESS and Catherine MUCK who married in Darke County, Ohio. Lewis HESS was born Jun 1831 in Pennsylvania and died 2 April 1854 in Darke County and his wife, Catherine MUCK HESS was born Dec 1833. One child, Ida Mae HESS was born 22 Sept 1868 in Gettysburg, Ohio, Darke County. Ida Mae Hess married Charles Henry Christian TATE. I would like to compare notes with anyone working on the HESS, MUCK, or TATE surname in Darke County, Ohio.

Seeking information on the MINNICH Family of Darke County, Ohio. Henry MINNICH was born in 1854 in Franklin Township, Darke County, Ohio. He married Mary Jane WAGOMAN. One of their children was Clarence MINNICH who was born in Darke County in 1884. Clarence married Nora Ellen ZECHER. Clarence and Nora had 10 children. Nora was the daughter of Andrew and Margaret (GEPHART) ZECHER. Would appreciate any information on these families.

Seeking information on the LUDY Family of Darke County, Ohio. Samuel LUDY was born in 1811 in PA and he married Elizabeth MILLER who was the daughter of William MILLER. William LUDY was the son of Samuel and Elizabeth and was born in 1838. William married Catherine REIKER in 1867. Catherine was the daughter of George M. and Catherine (MILLER) REIKER. William and Catherine LUDY had five children: George, Samuel, William G., Oscar and Sarah. Oscar and Sarah were twins. Sarah LUDY married Harvey WEAVER. William and Catherine LUDY are buried in Abbottsville Cemetery in Darke County, Ohio. Any information on these families would be appreciated.

Please add the name WEYRICK to the list of Darke Co. surnames. My father and mother lived on the corner across from the Otterbein Church (New Madison address) from 1942 until my father's death in 1975 and my mother's moving in about 1984/5. She moved to Union City, OH, and lived there until her death in 1987. The name SHORT should also be added. My mother's maiden name was SHORT and her parents lived in New Madison for several years before their deaths in about 1967 to 1969. I have collected quite a lot of names and information on both sides of the family and am willing to share.

Need info on Noah R. MILLER b. 1845 d. 1913 married Hettie GARBER b. 1850 d. 1922. Both are buried in the Castine Cemetery, Castine, Darke Co., OH. They had a daughter named Elvandia MILLER b. 1872 d. 1928. Other children were possibly: Ada, Ida, George, Lottie, Ward, and Martin.

I am seeking information on the SINK family of Darke County, Ohio. On the 1880 census, Caleb SINK and wife Elizabeth were listed with children, Fannie, William, Mary L.,Susanne, Jonathan, Jacob, Aaron, Henry, and Caleb (Kale) and Joshua (twins). I think Caleb and Elizabeth were born around 1825 and their children's births ranged from 1848 to 1866. Jonathan SINK b7/17/1853 Darke County married Mary Ann RILEY b6/3/1861. Mary Ann was the daughter of Elizabeth and James RILEY. Jonathan and Mary Ann had four children in Ohio and then moved across the line to Indiana to Randolph County, and then to Marion Cty, Indiana. Any information would be appreciated on both the SINK and RILEY families.

Seek contact with descendants of Patrick SHIELDS (b 1784) & #1 Mary (FOGLE) SHIELDS & Patrick SHIELDS & #2 Mrs. Selina BOYD SHIELDS of Preble Co., OH. Their son, Isaac SHIELDS (b 1807) mar Elizabeth RUSK and went to Darke Co., OH. Patrick is said to have had 21 children in all. Some appear to have been step-children. My great-grandmother was born in Darke Co. Ohio, July 24, 1861. Her name was Rebecca FIGEL or FIGLE (different documents show various spellings of the name). Her father on one marriage application shows Joel FIGEL and mother as Nancy MOSIER... another shows Isaac FIGLE and mother Nancy (looks like ) HOUK. She married Martin THARP in Portland, Ind. (Jay Co.) in Feb. 1878. My Grandmother Lillian was Born in Portland Feb. 26, 1885. any help in clarifying the surname problem or information on their ancestors would be appreciated.
